We moved to East Texas in the spring of 2002 from Elko, Nevada where we had both worked in the gold mining industry. We purchased a 100 acre farm in Douglass, TX and started out raising Boer goats. In 2005 we decided we needed to find a goat that required less maintenance here in our wet, humid climate. After much searching, we found Kiko goats and fell in love. They are the easiest goats to care for and thrive in our climate. In 2005 we also decided we needed to find a grazer to compliment our goats and we found the Lowline Angus. They are a small breed of Angus that do very well on a grass fed diet and are very easy to handle. Now, in 2007 we are adding St Croix sheep to our operation and changing our focus from raising breeding stock, to raising grass fed meats. We still will have some breeding stock for sale but will focus on grasses and meat production. Call for a visit we would love to share our experiences with you. |
